The King of 2 Miles TV show aired 13 episodes in 2018, highlighting the path to the 2017 championships. Applied Ballistics — comprising of Derek Rodgers (shooter), Paul Phillips (spotter), and Emil Praslick (wind coach) — emerged as the winning team that year. They were the first team, recorded on national television, to make target impact at 2 miles in the history of the King of 2 Miles event. The team won by accumulating the most points and were the only (and the first team ever) to make target impact at 2 miles within five shots.
