What a great memory having my long time shooting buddy Raymond Gross represent team GPG/McMillan at the NRA ELR Nationals. The initial testing of the new 22lbs 33XC showed that it could consistently produce sub half minute groups at 500 yards. The bullet of choice was the 275 Cutting Edge Bullets at a sizzling 3270 fps with a SD of 4.
It takes a lot to win an ELR match. You need a great team that can communicate very effectively, a very good shooting rifle and ammo, a highly skilled marksman driving the rifle, a great spotter/wind coach and a ballistics program that can give you an absolutely perfect solution. In this particular match, I used my Applied Ballistics LLC iPhone app. to give Ray his perfect elevation and wind. I have to say that I was very impressed with how accurate the data was from the phone app. With the spot on Solutions and help from his teammates, John Droelle and Daniel J. Pohlabel, they wasted no time in finishing with the highest score of both heavy and light classes and proving that the 33xc launching the 275 CEB was the winning combination.
